Taking Down the Christmas Tree

I hate taking down the Christmas tree. It’s like taking away all the happy memories and starting the new year without the happiness of Christmas.

I hate rolling the lights up, collecting the ornaments and tinsel, throwing out the wrapping paper, packing the Christmas tree into a box.

I know, Christmas can’t go on all year long, otherwise it wouldn’t be special. So how do we take down the Christmas decorations without that sad feeling rolling over us?

I know Christmas is more than the decorations, presents, and Santa, but what would Christmas be without the lights, tinsel, and chocolates?

Whatever the answer to that question is, that’s what you take with you into the new year.

Turn off the lights but continue to give happiness by shining brightly.

Throw the wrapping paper away but continue to give others the gift of God’s forgiveness.

Pack the nativity scene away but continue to focus on the greatest gift of all time.

Find things in the new year that make you shine bright, forgive, and appreciate the greatest gift.
