Seeing Miniature

The capital city of Australia is home to Cockington Green. This tourist attraction takes snapshots from scenes over the world and shrinks them down to doll-house size.

One section has manors, homes, villages, farms, trains and sports fields from England, all in miniature. Another section hosts a landmark or stereotypical scene from a collection of countries around the world. There’s a fairy garden and an intricate doll house too.

All shrunk down to tiny sizes.

What if we viewed our life that way? What if we shrunk all of our problems and stresses down to a miniature size? Not, of course, to downplay their significance or impact on our lives, but to view them with the complete picture.

One of the scenes at Cockington Green was of a sports match, a team on the grounds, and crowds in the grandstand. If we were in that moment we can never get the whole picture. We can only see the tiny snapshot that’s in front of our eyes.

But if we zoom out, and look at the scene, look at that problem, from every angle, perhaps we can see it with a new perspective, and face our problem with a new angle and a new courage.

2 Kings 6:17

And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

P.S. Here is a cute visitor hiding behind one of the displays.
