Thank you, Queen Elizabeth

I’ve never known anything else.

For all those under seventy, this is all we’ve ever known.

It’s been stable. It’s been comforting to experience the sense of duty and dedication of Queen Elizabeth.

On September 8, 2022, that changed. It was the end of a 70 year reign, the end of a 96 year life.

Living in Australia, as part of the Commonwealth that resides under Queen Elizabeth’s reign, nothing much changes, apart from the ‘heads’ side of the coins.

Yet to me, as a royal watcher, there is so much more that we have lost. A monarch who has lived through her ‘annus horribilis’ with a constant smile on her face, has passed on that duty to another.

Queen Elizabeth & Prince Louis — Trooping the Colour 2022

I love this photo so much because to me, it demonstrates the world’s relationship with Queen Elizabeth. While we were in a frenzy, she was calm and collected.

People come and go, that much is certain. Yet Queen Elizabeth was a symbol of strength and consistency and it seems inconceivable that she is no longer with us.

Thank you, Queen Elizabeth.
